Wherever I May Roam Live Distro

Still there's a lot of things about Linux that are such an absolute struggle for me for maximum efficiency and compatibility in minimum time,

even with the Knoppix state of the art advanced diverse hardware detectors, . . . . and all that,

The multimedia audio and video viewing programs don't always immediately load or run a bunch of Windows Media, Real Player Media, iTunes media radio feed content off the internet very well.

I HAVE YET to find a distro that immediately detects a printer connected to my own PC or at a public network. That would be cool if there was a way to instantly recognize printers on a network.

I'm dreaming of a Versatile travelling Live Distro that will install and run off those little 512 to 1 gig thumb drive, or other external storage devices that plug discretely plug into USB orofices, or a lot of other computer ororfices, since some public libraries no longer have CD ROM drives. Circumventing any BIOS passwords would be a nice skill too. Any thing to get connected efficiently, considering I don't no have wireless laptop.

Having a distro that instantly recognizes those external storage devices I plug in would really help to save important information too.

That new Distro Beatrix is a nice light weight simple distro. Yet there's something I just don't get about either KDE nor Gnome about finding files on the hard drive. I can't seem to grasp how to use a search-for-file feature the way windows does?

What can you people who may have lived a bit like Adrian Lamo or spent some time as a drifter or traveller tell me about making some sort of "Wherever I may Roam" Distro?

"

Metallica - Wherever I May Roam Lyrics

...and the road becomes my bride
I have stripped of all but pride
so in her I do confide
and she keeps me satisfied
gives me all I need

...and with dust in throat I crave
only knowledge will I save
to the game you stay a slave
rover wanderer
nomad vagabond
call me what you will

but I'll take my time anywhere
free to speak my mind anywhere
and I'll redefine anywhere
anywhere I may roam
where I lay my head is home

...and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
under wandering stars I've grown
by myself but not alone
I ask no one

...and my ties are severed clean
the less I have the more I gain
off the beaten path I reign
rover wanderer
nomad vagabond
call me what you will

but I'll take my time anywhere
I'm free to speak my mind anywhere
and I'll never mind anywhere
anywhere I may roam
where I lay my head is home

but i'll take my time anywhere
free to speak my mind
and I'll take my find anywhere
anywhere I may roam
where I lay my head is home

carved upon my stone
my body lie, but still I roam
wherever I may roam

It's possible to customize Knoppix to your own tastes if you really want to. . .

Live CD guide page

I'm sure it is. One of these days I'll have time, though I tend to wait for the millions of custom designers behind computers to eventually build one and share it with the world, like many have already done to some extent here:

If your into gentoo or LFS like scuff...I remember once hearing something about a package called
Catalyst

where you build your LFS distro on a system then use Catalyst and configure it and eventualy make a bootable iso....im not sure how it works becouse I have never done it.....just a thought
