I have installed Ret Hat Linux ES 4.
However, when I run yum, it says: command not found

How to get it run?

RedHat is the commercial software from RedHat. It uses "up2date" to get updates from RedHat rather than "yum".

Fedora is the non-commercial software from RedHat. It uses "yum" but that's not what you have.

it open "Welcome to Red Hat Update Agent" and finally asked subscription number which I don't have.

Does it mean I won't be able to update Red Hat Linux ES with yum or up2date command??

Yes so far as I know. If you aren't paying for a subscription RedHat wants you to use Fedora instead of RH. Using yum with Fedora is free.

If you have one system with RH that has a subscription for up2date you can use it to download the packages you need then copy from /var/spool/up2date there to /var/spool/up2date on your other system. Not sure what licensing implications are involved in that.

If you absolutely need RH and this is the only one you probably need to explore doing the subscription. If it doesn't have to be RH but only LIKE RH then you should download the equivalent Fedora Core version.

you can check out www.centos.org - centos is built from the SRPMS of RHES (if you purchased RHES 4 from redhat, you'll invalidate your support entitlement).

to get yum:

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/yum/

also, take a look at http://dag.wieers.com/packages/yam/ - it will allow you to build your own yum repository.
