Where have all the KDE4-news gone?

Hi!

I remember there was much fuzz 'bout the new KDE4 release in the beginning of 2006. But since then I haven't heard much news about it. The pages associated with the project (for instance http://developer.kde.org/development...-features.html) seem to be totally outdated (I hope at least, 'cause if you look at how little of the todo-list has status "Done", one would think that they had years of development left...)

So, has anyone heard anything about the actual progress or release date or anything else about KDE4? Would love to hear at least something :D

Google: "kde4"----Lot's of hits.
If KDE is like any other Open Source project, then v. 4 will be ready when it is ready.

No sh**, are you kiddin'? Of course there are lots of hits, the problem that they are outdated... all of them :( The wikipedia page, their development page etc etc.

But it sounds like you don't know what KDE is?? Thought that pretty much anyone knew what it was. OK, ok, we don't need to start another flame war of "Gnome vs KDE"-type, but c'mon!

Yeah, that's cool. But I remember there was some talk (in january) about a development snapshot being released around this time. Haven't heard anything since then.

Not really sure what you mean by that, but considering in his distro listing, he says he uses "KUBUNTU"(a KDE version of Ubuntu), I'd say he probalby knows what KDE is and wasn't trying to start some type of flame war. I think you over reacted.

He's 100% correct, it will be ready when its ready.

'Cos I am a genius and know how the internet works, I went to KDE.org, looked at the "latest news" and found this from the 2 November: http://dot.kde.org/1162475911/

I do know what KDE is and I concur with Pixellany that it will be released when it's ready.

Oh, very sorry for that comment. I see now that it can be misunderstood. Was not my intention to imply that pixellany was about to start a flame war, it was more directed at myself. Sorry, pixellany, didn't mean to insult you...

XavierP, thanks for the links, I found the pages I was looking for in the end :o

Though I still have one more question: It may be only me, but I feel like there is so little publicity around the new KDE release (it was some in the beginning of 2006, but then, as I already pointed out, it stopped). I may be wrong, but from what I remember, there was more fuzz about previous releases. That's kinda strange I think, since some say that KDE4 is supposed to be a new huge milestone for the KDE project. Are they just cautious and don't want to promise too much or is there any other reason (besides that it's still beta)?
