On my debian system firefox saves everything under

/path/to/your/home/.mozilla/firefox/2j34gj23gj23gjh2.Default User/

you have to fill in your own home dir, like /home/joe and the profile may use another hash code and user name so for you it might be like 445hg4399882.Joe/

anyway the bookmarks are in the file bookmarks.html (backup is in bookmarks.bak)

hope this helps

Here is where it is on my Mandriva 10.1 system

/home/cliff/.mozilla/firefox/4pd7p8f0.default/bookmarks.html

It may be in a different location on your system, depending where you instaled firefox. You can use the locate command to find a file. ie locate bookmarks.html

If you have never used locate before, you may get a message stating the dbase is not up to date. If that happens, do a "slocate -u" ( don't put the quotes in) as root user first to build or update the database.

The easiest way to back your Frefox files up is to use the Bookmark Backup extension.

Pike's Mozilla Firefox Extensions,
Quote:
Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location.
