Where can I get a RHEL5 iso image for FREE??
Hey guys
so, I'm still trying to track down a redhat iso image to fool with I wanna learn redhat's syntax, system stuff so can anyone help finding it? thanks |
In what way were the answers in http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-to-rh-741422/ not good or clear enough?
|
Where, unSpawn, did you see a link to a redhat iso in that post?
and, the post concerned CentOS specifically So, I'll ask again: Is there a link to a redhat iso image somewhere? |
No I mean you said "I wanna learn redhat's syntax, system stuff" and in that thread it was made clear that Centos is good for learning RHEL?

Oh
sorry I misunderstood My apologies brother:) Yes, I want to learn redhat badly as maybe getting certified and having experience in many distro's syntax and methods of operation will also help too I've been on unemployment pay since I joined this forum in January:) it's gonna end at some point, and I don't really want to continue being a high-paid cabinet installer as I always wanted to keep all 10 digits anyway:) But, thanks for the help as everything I've learned in Linux is from you guys! |
karamarisan, that's what I figured:(
Maybe I can get a hacked version from China? lol I can't find the damn CentOS-5.3 installer! on the livecd? how do I install centos to my hd? it says the hd installer is in the livecd so what do I do? Oh, so how much is a redhat iso, like $50 or what? thanks |
Have you tried booting the Live CD? It should be fairly straightforward, though I've never done it.
What you buy isn't the ISO. Red Hat makes money by selling subscriptions - support and access to update servers - which are fairly costly. If you get to know your way around CentOS or Fedora, you'll be right at home if you're ever put in charge of a RHEL machine. |
How to get RHEL ISO?
Easy...register here (it's free): https://www.redhat.com/wapps/ugc/register.html..._cECD6C9FF-4C3D-8819-111E-E913 Then request a 30-day trail of RHEL here: http://www.redhat.com/rhel/details/eval/ Once you get your 30-day trail you can log into your account on Red Hat's site and you will be able to download RHEL. Fast. Easy. Free. FWIW... I used CentOS to get my RHCE... The first time I saw RHEL was when I took my test...so is CentOS the same as RHEL? My RHCE says so :D -C |

32-bit: http://mirror.steadfast.net/centos/5.3/isos/i386/ 64-bit: http://mirrors.rit.edu/centos/5.3/isos/x86_64/ Net install won't really do you any good unless you plan on doing an HTTP or NFS install... (the links above have DVD ISOs) -C |

I recall that Red Hat provides a version called "Fedora" which is free-of-charge. Otherwise, their business model is that you (must) pay for ongoing support, which they dutifully provide. It's just how they do things, and yes, it is legally enforceable. It's also a good deal, in the eyes of a lot of people.

You can run RHEL without a problem...you just won't get support/updates. -C |
