When will you be looking to migrate to 64bit Linux?
When will you be looking to migrate to the 64bit Linux distro of your choice?
For the purpose of this poll, if your distro currently doesn't provide a 64bit version, pretend that it does. What I'm trying to get a feel for here is when people believe they'll actually want or need to go 64bit, without being skewed by loyalty to any particular distro.
If you've already switched please use the "6 months ago" option I worded that one badly.
My apologies for the cock-up.

Reason: edit: clarificaion on options.
That was the intention behind the 6months ago (it was meant to pick up people who've already moved. Perhaps I could have worded that better too. Cut me some slack, here.
I happened to switch around 6 months ago or maybe a bit more. I still think the poll should include out of range options, i.e. 1 year or more ago, and 2 years or more.

That was my intent but I cocked-up the wording on the options, and there's no way to fix it short of asking the mods to delete it and starting over, and I'm not sure its worth troubling them with.
We should still be able to see a general trend though.
How about an option that says "When I purchase a computer that can support 64 bit"? That would be my answer. I have older machines, and for now they are running my 32bit stuff great. Eventually they will die or be too slow for recent versions of my OS, but I don't know when that will be. Could be 6 months from now, could be 5 years from now.
Distribution: Slackware & Slamd64. What else is there?

That's what happened to me. I was running an old beater Coppermine, blissfully ignorant of technology and so used to the 10-minute boot time that I never questioned things. When that box died a well-deserved death and I finally got some new boxes, wow! What am I doing running a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit SMP box with 4G?

When most (>=50%) things I do on my PC will require 64bit or if they will seriously outperform (200..1000% performance boost) on 64bit, I'll probably migrate. Hard to say when it will happen.

My goodness, 200 - 10000 % ... earth to ErV, earth to ErV, come in ErV, do you read us, you have dropped off our radar, please head back to earth wherever you are ...
My old pc went down so I decided to build a new one myself. It was at that point, two months ago, that I decided to go to 64bit as it would have been pointless to stay with 32bit.
Ubuntu Ultimate and all my software is running ok so I am happy.
