what linux is this?

I think it's the GNOME Desktop.

but how come my redhat's gnome doesn't look like that? does it need more mod on it?

i m talking about the tool bar on the top of the screen.

Red hat adds crap to gnome so you're not really getting the true GNOME. When I first installed slackware, I was surprised to find out what a default gnome looks like. Anyway, if you want you're gnome to look like that, all you need to do is move a panel on top, and then add one on the bottom to be your taskbar and desktop manger thing. You can do that with your red hat. I'm not too fond of that setup because it takes away more of my screen. I tried it a while ago once I got too much crap on my taskbar. I ended up cleaning it out. Anyway, have fun.
