What Is Wrong With This Liloconf File

Hi

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this. In its current state if booting from bootloader i get a kernel panic . I have to use boot disk to access machine. I can't see anything wrong with it & a /sbin/lilo -v loads it without warnings or errors

prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
restricted
password=a290865k
message=/boot/message
lba32

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-18.8.0
label=linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.18-18.8.0.img
read-only
append="root=LABEL=/"
root=/dev/hdc2

other=/dev/hda1
optional
label=DOS
table=/dev/hda

These are my partitions

fdisk -l

Disk /dev/hdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 4865 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdc1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
/dev/hdc2 14 4784 38323057+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdc3 4785 4865 650632+ 82 Linux swap

Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1247 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 1247 10016496 17 Hidden HPFS/NTFS

Regards

Andrew

What is the exact kernel panic error ? That might help us cause there are many reasons why there could be a kernel panic ??

Also is it pointing to your correct kernel in the correct location ? When did this start occuring ? Has it ever worked before ?
