What is the best distro for gnome 3?

The gnome 3 will be relased in 24 hours and I have heard that Ubuntu 10.10 doesn't support gnome 3. The 11.04 version supports as for testing or smth but it's at it's first beta stage. What are the distros that are perfect for gnome 3?

Fedora F15 is probably your best bet.

Arch also just moved gnome 3 into extra repository.

Depends a lot on what you want, but Fedora 15 Beta seems to be the best at the moment. I understand that it's in other distros' repositories such as Arch (as mentioned above). I'd wait for the final version of Fedora 15 before upgrading, although I was impressed with its stability when I tested it.

It's not just "in" the Arch Respositories, it IS Gnome in Arch. So, if you install Arch and decide to install Gnome, Gnome3 (gnome-shell) is the Gnome you get. It's very nice. I am curious about the F15 Beta implementation (I'm downloading the live ISO now) because the Arch implementation is really freakin' sweet :)

I'm not a Gnome guy but I had good luck with Fedora testing Gnome 3. Since it's still pretty new tho I would expect a few bumps along the way, if it's anything like KDE 4

I am not a Gnome fan either, I use Fedora14/KDE4 on my desktop, but decided to install Fedora15/Gnome3 on my laptop to try it out. I must say I am very impressed so far. Everything is very fast and slick. The only big gripe is the lack of maximise/minimise icons on the window bars. I thought I would get used to it but I have not!

Overall Gnome 3 seems a lot more stable and usable than KDE4 was when it first came out.

Fedora 15 will be released on 24 May, and G3 is the default GUI.

Personally, I'm one of those who's tried the beta version and vowed to switch to Xfce! Still, as Marion Zimmer Bradley used to say, if we all liked the same thing there's be a terrible shortage of haggis.

Dont I know it :( - the question should not be "what distro works well with Gnome3" (or something like that) but "what DE works for me?" - and for me, Gnome3 (for all its features) does'nt work for me.

Right up the same alley - just want to backup some stuff and install XFCE, along G3, try it, and eventually delete G3. Gorgeeous as it is, it's way too hard on my machine...

No problem, I'm more into sushi anyway... :D
