What is root's password in knoppix?

I tried a "blank" by just pressing return, but know luck. I've tried knoppix and linux, a no go.

How can one "su" in a console in X on knoppix?

I am aware that CTRL ALT F2-F4 or root console's, however I want to be able to su in an xterm.

Cool

According to the Knoppix FAQ, there is none. But there are ways that are left as an excersize for the student. :D

Hint: Search forum for the term "knoppix" as someone was discussing that a day or two ago.

I have never used knoppix but have you tried dropping to single user mode and running "passwd root" to set a new one?

Hi all,

all you have to do is to launch the console and type in it :
sudo su

That's it, you're root.

ctrl+alt+f4 will take you to text mode, then just type "passwd", type in the new root password.

Then just ctrl+alt+f5 to graphic mode

Thank you everyone for your responses. Next time I have knoppix up for a demo, I'll be sure to give them a try. :)

Cool
