Question What is /Dev/shm?

Hi,
I have installed RedHat.
When do a df -k I get a listing of file systems.
I seem to have an entry for /dev/shm which is mounted on filesystem none. I'm hoping thats normal but can anyone tell me what it is?
Cheers,

It's the mount point for the Shared Memory Filesystem (shmfs).
