Well it's been over a year since the talented Matthieu James released faenza icons 1.3.1. I wrote him an e-mail pointing out several symlinks needed for a few updated packages but got no response. What happened? I heard he was hired by Canonical to design a new icon theme for Ubuntu so... does that mean this is the end?
I know many, many people really like these icons. If the project is dead, can we do somekind of crowdfunding to 'revive' it?
Yes the term 'crowdfunding' was supposed to be under ''s as well. I don't know, maybe a calll for a collaborative effort? The thing is that I don't have 10% of the skill needed to make new Faenza-like icons...
well you said yourself that you want symlinks. not so much skill needed for that.
but the answer is really very simple: this is the wonderful world of free and open source software - just continue where the creator stopped.

- this user's been maintainig the icons on dA and gnome-look. but i guess it's the same guy as mentioned in post #1.
also lots and lots of people have already been making "faenza-like" icons - one could throw together several and create some kind of new "meta-faenza".
lots of work and possibilities without coming anywhere near an image editor.

Yes, I know there's people talented enough to 'continue where the creator stopped'. I'm not one of them so... is there a place where we could make a public call to gather skilled and willing to do it?

why aren't you one of them?
you are able to see what is needed, you are able to work a file manager / text editor / terminal, you are able to go on posting about this - what more do you need? it's tedious work, and it doesn't get less tedious when you're "more talented" (like einstein already said) - so, where's your 1%? maybe you can find 99 other people then.

Ok, I'm doin' this. I contacted Faenza Fresh's author and he said another person looked for him with the same goal of reviving the project. I gathered about 40 third-party Faenza-like icons and created a spreadsheet with goals, symlinks and alike. What's the best the way to continue? A pool here with requests, a git repository...?
