what can gnu/linux do that other computers can't

what are linux kernel and linux distros able to do that macs and windows computers can't

also are there some things that freebsd and solaris can do that others can't (you don't have to answer this one)

you can change things to run exactly your way, all the way from the booting process to the gui. just search for hackintosh and you will see how hard it is to do the same for mac, let alone windows in which sometimes it is almost impossible.

to put it another way, in other OS, you are eating sausages and don't know what they put in there (doesn't bear thinking about, really), but in linux and similar OSes such as freebsd, you are making your own burrito so you know exactly what you are eating.

like the burger king slogan says "have it your way"

but anyway your saying that in other operating systems the companies put some stuff in there that you might not know about after about a while and the fact that it will get frustrating when you have no control over it (just an assumption) the companies put all kinds of stuff in there that they don't want you to know about

Yes, and also in other operating systems FOSS licenses are not present at the core or in the GUI APIs. Linux is the only operating system where ALL the source code is in the public domain.
