Way to easily view a list of users that have been added

Greetings,

I am relatively new to linux, and have been unable to find a way of viewing an entire list of users that have been added.

I'm sure itwill be in a file somewhere, just where....

Also, why is it that when a new user is added the username appears in the /etc/group file as a group ?

Cheers,

Adrian

The list of all users is in /etc/passwd. It will have some system users in it that you haven't added.

The reason you have a group entry for every user is your distribution uses "user private groups". Read http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...te-groups.html for some background.
