Question Want to knw a cmd by which we can get distribution verison of Linux


My current program supports different verions of linux. Is there any command by which we can get Distribution verion of Linux. Eg: Suse,
RH 7.2, 8, 9, etc etc.. By "uname" we can get Kernel verison but i dont want that.. Please guide..

hi there,

cat /etc/issue
can give you some info. this is not standart.
ex: in read hat you have
Code:
cat /etc/redhat-release
and so on...
