VLC Media Player Unable To Play/Stream
 

Recently a Korean movie from a long time ago came up on YouTube, and apparently it's been there since 2007 (so I'm guessing the copyright on it has ended).

Anyways, I tried to stream this using VLC Media Player version 1.1.11 but it didn't work. I tried both the restricted and non-restricted versions and downloaded the mozilla firefox plugin as well and even restarted my browser.

It's clear nothing is streaming, and pressing play shows "00:00/00:00" and then stops and does nothing.

Does anybody know why this may be, or how I might be able to stream these videos? I don't intend on using websites for this job.

I do not use vlc in firefox so i have NOT seen any problems with Mplayer-plugin and the all-20110131.tar.bz2 codec package

I thought you were trying to watch it on youtube

so you are not watching it on YT but you already downloaded it and want to view it from a different computer on your local network

you want to "stream " it form one computer to a different one on your lan .

No, I haven't downloaded it yet either. I have no intention of doing so. I just want to stream it from my computer to others.

If I understand this, you want VLC on one computer to play the incoming stream from YouTube and simultaneously relay it to a second computer?

I think Konphine want's to use vlc directly with YouTube's website but without a browser. That may have been simple at one time, but YouTube now serves files according to the browser's abilities. So it might be difficult to get it to serve the file in a suitable format.

glue that is exactly what I mean. Unfortunately as you've said, they've changed the website so it doesn't work as it used to anymore. In addition, I do intend on going to YouTube (I need the link after all) but just want to stream it in the sense that you've described it.
