Virus on linux


hi,

usually, i only heard that virus always attacking Windows, is there any virus for linux? could it be possible for linux to effected by virus?

There's no know virus attacking linux. i mean ATTACKING, there's some worm or virus that can use your box to jump to another one, but yo'll not be infected (that's why some freak think there's virus on linux)
it's very hard to do a virus attacking linux since you'can't install anything or you can't modify starting script, if you're not root, so a virus can hardly infect your system... the only thing that can be affected is the user that caught it, so probably only his home (so it's useless).
To make a good virus attacking linux, you'll need to find a security old in the OS to get root access then you'll be able to infect something... pretty hardder than windows.
That's why you should NEVER log at root for doing regular tasks like chatting/using progs/reading forum.
And that's why windows sucks : any user can modify the system and possibly break it.
