virtual drives?
are there any programs that will allow me to have virtual dvd drives? I know they exist for window's, but i havent seen any for linux.

there are no programs to do this, as it's far too simple for a program to need to be written for. the kernel can do it from day one...
mount -o loop /home/user/dvd.iso /mnt/dvd |
i knew about that, but wouldnt that mean i need a dvd drive? i want to mount an image to a drive that doenst physically exist. should i add a fake drive to my fstab?

what part of that says you need a dvd drive? you're using a loopback device, not a real one.
