I did not vote because I use both, depending on if an X11 session is available and what/where I'm editing.

I prefer the command line vim over the gui.

I also use set -o vi in my shell sessions.

I also hate it when I type :wq! in word or notepad.

But, the number of times I have typed ls -l when in dos is what really gets me, although it's not too bad if you have cygwin installed

Yes! All the time! . It's also a bit like if you mud a lot, you start using l and who in linux terminals , just as a habit, even when it serves no purpose at all.

vim when in console or over ssh, mostly gvim when X is available but not always.
Partly because I don't know all vim commands but also because gvim looks great. :P
