Is there a way to have a complete installation of VIM reside on a 128MB USB jumpdrive? I am going to use it on a Solaris 10 computer at school that has vi but not VIM (hence no syntax highlighting, etc.). I can't install it on that computer since it is a school system and I don't have administrative powers nor enough space on my account to do so. But, I can mount my USB jumpdrive on the system. So can I install it on my jumpdrive and have it work properly on Solaris? And how?
Installing it on a JumpDrive should work. When you mount the drive, add the Vim binaries to your PATH and set the VIM environment variable to the path of the Vim support files. I think that should do the trick. The only other thing you'll need is Solaris binaries for Vim.

Is it possible to install the Solaris binaries from Linux or BSD Unix?

You shouldn't need to "install" anything - just copy the binaries and support files onto the drive and set the environment variable appropriately in your Solaris account.

Also, with the Solaris binaries, is it just the console version or is the graphical version also compiled in?
