Vim file system view

Dear Users
When i enter
Code:
vi .
I enter a vim session where the "document" consists of entries listing the content of my current directory. I can then place the cursor on one of the files in the directory and hit enter to directly view it in vim.
How can I then close the vim session *of this document*, and return to the view of the directory content?

Thanks for hints.

MZH,I had the same problem .
The answer instead of doing :q or any other command do :Rexplore or just :Rex , don't forget an uppercase R ,
this will take you back to exactly where you where .
all the best

That's what I was looking for, but it seems quite a clumsy way of doing this. Any more efficient options?
