Viewing .zip files

Hello world :

I read all zip and unzip man pages but couldn`t manage to find out how to do it (open zip files ) properly on Slackware. The man pages about this two topics are huge and it was difficult for me to understand anything .

PS I read that Zip utilities are common to most OS . Does anyone know on which OS it was developed first ? thanks

i got this message from nautilus but every other browser tells me the same or doesn`t open at all :

Nautilus have no installed viewer capable of displaying /home/jamaso/mar/ddr_0012_wavez.zip

i *think* the zip format was developed by pkware way back under dos, but i may be wrong, and frequently am.

what actaul probelm have you got..? 'unzip file.zip' is all you need to unzip a file. the -l flag will list the contents
