Video Streaming from Linux

Several weeks ago, I made a project using IceCast to stream live radio broadcast. It did well. Now I need to stream videos but I dont know where to begin. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

vls and vlc are probably your best bet.

I checked out VLC and VLS and I just found out that "VL" means Video LAN which may mean that it is only implemented via Local Area Network.

Can this be implemented via WWW?

VLC can be streamed over the internet but obviously the connection speed is important.
