Video inverse in web pages

Is there any reason why there couldn't be a script (in
greasemonkey or somehow else) to make each web page show
in inverse video?

This seems such an obvious thing to want, but it seems it hasn't
been done.

I have really poor sight and find large areas of white, etc,
very difficult to read. I use evince in inverse video and
use a bright on black colortheme in emacs.

For a while I had a little gmonkey script that changed white to
pale yellow, but for it to help I needed to make the yellow dark
and then yellow text was hidden ...

If someone can tell me that video inverse is impossible or seriously
difficult to do for firefox, that'd be a help. Or if it exists and you
can point me to it, even better.

I'm not a programmer or code expert, just a fairly competent linux/open
source user.

Maybe readability.com is what you need

http://www.chromeplugins.org/google/...lick-7415.html - it is the reverse, but you only need to exchange white and black and maybe change some #-specified colours, and it is a bookmarklet as-is (i.e. you add it to bookmark toolbar and click it when you need it).

On a totally unrelated note: have you tried changing your display's brightness? It seems to be a lot of difference.

Thanks, that's useful. I didn't know about readability.com

It seems most sites use colour codes away from the two endpoints. I suppose
I could enter commands reversing each of the 20 (say) codes at each end, but
I thought there might be a more elegant solution. I'll keep experimenting.

Reducing the brilliance does help a bit, but creates other problems.
