No problem, I'm glad you got it working.
I've noticed a little speed increase with the 2.6 kernel especially when doing multi-tasking when using MLDonkey, K3B, surfing the net and working on editing some of my digital photos. It was never a "slow" in the past it just seems a little smoother now.
Just when I thought I had everything working, I compiled myself a fresh 2.6.1 kernel (I had been playing with 2.6.0) with all of the correct filesystem stuff (turned out all I needed was the extended EXT attributes, not UFS and XFS). However, now my framebuffer is all messed up (the console boots at 640x480), but the options I selected are exactly the same as 2.6.0, and meet all of the requirements I've seen posted elsewhere (framebuffer support, console support, VGA fonts, et al). After literally a few hours of searching the internet last night, I posted the problem here, and have been met with no replies. Here's a link to the post. Lets see if you can save me again, rberry.
As I type this I'm compiling a new 2.6.1 kernel, this time without 'optimizing for size.' I was thinking that perhaps the compression of the kernel was freaking my framebuffer out. If that doesn't work, I'll try 773 instead of 791. Strange that I'd have such a problem switching between 2.6.0 and 2.6.1. *shrugs* I'll update with the results once I reboot.
Thanks,
rk
Edit: Nope, the 2.6.1 kernel sans Os AND with my lilo.conf set to 773 still boots at 640x480. I'm completely out of ideas.
