/usr/bin/ld problem

Code:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
I am getting this error while trying to install chrootkit. I did a google search to try to fix the probem and it suggested install c libs. But according to mandrake I already have glibc-devel installed and that might contain it.

Any advice?

chkrootkit /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc

Installing chkrootkit 0.45 in mandrake 10.1
same problem
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc

solved by installing glibc-static-devel (if I remember well the name)
straight from the distro
