using Linux within VMWare on Windows XP
unfortunately... i'm doing it.
Coz dont wanna loose my files on the Windows XP even though, i really want to dig deeper bout Linux... coz it's mandatory for us...hehehe :D but seems that this VMWare Workstation for the latest version 6 if i'm not mistaken it will not detect our VGA properly... as u know I'm using XP SP2 VGA - Geforce 5500 AC'97 CD/DVD ROM HDD 160 GB + 20 GB and so the VMWare just detect it as Quote:
NVIDIA is will not detected here... anyone have a solution? |
We all have to start somewhere when learning Linux. :D
The VMWare SVGA II adapter is actually the video card of your virtual machine; it's just entirely virtualized. Don't expect your Linux guest to be able to 'see' that Geforce because it does not participate as a virtualized PC component in VMware workstation. However, you do need the appropriate drivers to get your virtualized video adapter to work at its full potential (I think you can install them with the VMWare Guest extensions. Read their documentation to see how). |
but...virtual is virtual... not real.
