I did not read the link, but I have a setup that does do this, yes. Images are captured on motion, and then sent to a remote storage location, so even if the pc gets stolen, I have pictures.
I think I will see this thread again in the general forum.
Yes there is a superb version that I have been playing with using wireless spy cameras at http://www.zoneminder.com/ . It has been used locally (UK) to prevent vandalism at an old church very succesfully.
