Question useradd -p problem


when I use adduser -p password mick it adds the user but when I try and login it excepts the user but not the passwd
Am I doing something wrong

-p does NOT mean that following is a cleartext password. -p means that you have to supply the password as returnd by crypt. For more details please consider checking the manpage of useradd.

Use useradd WITHOUT -p and later password <username> to set the password!

Thanks I understand the above but is it possible to do it all in one line without having to do the passwd user and then supply the passwd

Using a perl script ... check crypt for more details
