"User" & "System" CPU load difference

Maybe it is stupid... but which is the difference?

When i mv a file is "system cpu loab" but why?

user time is while executing code in user space (programs and librarys)
kernel time is while executing code in kernel space (kernel and drivers)
when u move a file, most work is done by the kernel(by the filesystem and harddisc drivers)

Case23 06-05-2004 04:43 PM

kernel time = system time

if a program has code to move files is system or user time? [system i think]
