USB mouse detection in Slackware 8.1

hi,

the first time i am asking for help in here..
but i guess that's ok..

i have recently upgraded my kernel from 2.4.18 to 2.4.20
however i have lost my usb mouse support..

the kernel does support it ( i checked that)
infact i can load the module as well..
however the device node for the mouse does
not work..

any solutions on how to create a device node for
a usb connected Microsoft Intellimouse..

thank you

No hints from dmesg or syslog? Which modules are you loading for USB support?

i forgot to mention.. i am using gpm..
and that is used by X ...

well i load usb hid module.. so that's fine..
however the /dev/mouse isnt assigned to
mouse.. and gpm cant detect it..

i fixed the prob..
located the mouse in /dev/input/mice..

it helps to load mousedev and hiddev as modules
rather than builtin.. but the same effect is noticed
in either case...

thanx
