USB mass-storage device unexpectedly turns read-only

The usb device (micro-SDs) was working normally but
some file system property flag unexpectedly turn
"read-only" ::

It happened within regular modern openSuse i586s
(e.g.: 12.3 or 13.2) :: I had to buy a new micro-SD device
for this reason last month, and now it happens again! ::

Can it be resolved with a system command in Bash,
with the right option and argument? ::

After doing:
chmod -w /dev/sdc1

it responds:
chmod: /dev/sdc1: new permissions are r--rw----, not r--r-----

but nothing changes ..

chmod +w /dev/sdc1 does not work either ..

This is a problem that I've seen many times and sadly I wasn't able to find a way to solve it.

The research that I did about it lead me to 2 conclusions. 1, it's due to the controller going up on the device and or it's 'write protection is on'. See the last link.

Try using 'hdparm':

Maybe try re-formatting the drive:-?
OR> Use gparted as root to unmount it.

Remove write protect:
