Usb drive file sync

Hello, I have a standard usb stick drive. I also have a directory or two with files that i modify quite often. What's the best way to sync a local folder with its equivalent on the usb drive post-mount and pre-umount?

A gui to allow safety questions would be nice, but not necessary.

Please advise
Thank you.

My knowledge of rsync is very limited, could you suggest how I would go about doing that? Or at least a reliable HOWTO? I've started googling, but haven't understood properly yet.

Thanks
