Urgent


I am trying to figure out what brand of laptop would be more reliable between Acer and HP. I am planning on using it for movie editing. thank you

Sorry, this is not "urgent". In addition to not being descriptive, your title is simply wrong. We are volunteers, and the word urgent--to us--is more likely mean that we need to go to the bathroom....

Acer and HP both are established manufacturers--I would look at the warranty and the availability of local service. Do NOT, however, get any kind of extended warranty or service policy. These are (highly profitable) forms of insurance and are a really bad investment.

For movie editing you need a lot of horsepower, including big and fast hard drives. For a laptop, this also means big, heavy, and power hungry.

Do you have a local dealer that you like, or are you buying online?

Have you looked at the Macs?

Personally, if I were going to get a laptop now, I'd probably go with a MacBook. Competitive pricing, pretty, dual core, the ability to natively boot OSX, Linux and Windows. OSX also includes iMovie, for your purpose, one of the nicest end-user video editors.
