Question .tar.gz help


could someone plz tell me how to unzip a file in linux,,

I downloaded Netscape Comm and BitchX program,, their in .gz .tar format,,,,,how to I get these files to extract and installed????

man tar
man gunzip

as a general rule of thumb, try man -k and whatever you are looking at
