"Unknown Partition Table Signature" error when making a grub boot floppy ?

Hi,
One of my Grub boot floppies was close to giving up the ghost so I decided to create a new one.
Followed the standard procedure.
Code:
$ mke2fs /dev/fd0
$ mount /dev/fd0
$ mkdir -p /media/floppy/boot/grub
$ cp /boot/grub/stage* /media/floppy/boot/grub

Also copied my menu.lst + other files from original grub floppy to new floppy.

$ umount /dev/fd0
At grub boot prompt :

Code:
grub > device (fd0) /dev/fd0
grub > root (fd0) UNKNOWN PARTITION TABLE SIGNATURE
grub > setup (fd0)

Copying files etc etc
Installing ....
I tried using several floppy disks but kept on seeing the same error. The boot disk does work by the way but I am wondering why I keep on getting this partition table error ??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
UC

Thanks cm,
In answer to your question, unfortunately, I did not run fdisk on /dev/fd0 before making the grub boot floppy. The floppy contained data in fat32 format so Ii deleted everything converted it into ext2 using mke2fs.

Thanks again,
UC
