undelete folder including files
Hi everybody,
I accidentaly delete a folder using Krusader. Is there a way to restore it? It is not in my recycle bin... I really hope someone can help me out. Best regards, Jethro |
By the way, I use ext3. I fear that it is not possible to recover an entire folder from there, unless Krusader as some feature to undelete files it has just deleted. I was under the assumption that these files would go to the recycle bin, but apparently they do not :(

I dont know what Krusader is, but many GUIs send things to the trash vs totally deleting them. In FC5, I just tried something: On the desktop, I used the delete key and the file is gone (not in trash). If I right-click on the file, then there is an option to "send to trash"---but it does not seem to work!!! (Now I need to check my system..... )
If the stuff is really important, then I think it can be recovered---don't write anything lese to the disk until you figure out your next moves. In the terminal (CLI), there is no trash. |
Can't help you retrieve your files. You can configure Krusader to move files to Trash instead of deleting them. The option is available at Krusader -> Settings -> Configure Krusader -> General.

Thank you, I will do that!

undelete software
You could try this.
http://www.r-tt.com/ However, I think you need to have a dual boot machine and boot windows and run it from there. I used another free utility once than ran from windows but i can't remember what it was called. It saved my data though. There are probably several free tools available. If you do have dual boot, I suggest you boot windows now and don't run linux until you have recovered the data. Good luck Andy |
I had the ext3 file system, so the tool you refer to does not work on that. I have accepted the fact that I am an idiot and my data is lost.
