Angry undefined symbol: g_object_compat_control

I can't run Firefox, Thunderbird or GAIM, and when I try to run them with a terminal, I get an error:
Quote:
symbol lookup error: /opt/gnome/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_object_compat_control

You need to upgrade glib to version 2.8.5 or greater.

If by chance you're using glib 2.9.x (the development branch of glib) you'll have to upgrade to version 2.9.2 or greater.

These are the versions that first added the symbol you're missing.

Lyle.
