Hi,

This happens because you already have one Xserver running and you can only have one per TTY. I've found this on the internet and thought it might be helpful. As pointed out, some things will not work since they're already running in the other session. Another option you can use is listed in this thread.

Hope it helps.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your advice and links

Following thread works for me.
Gnome Session Over SSH
http://brice-rebsamen.blogspot.com.e...-over-ssh.html

However there are 2 problems;
1) It must be performed as root because executing "xinit -- :1"
2) The remote desktop takes up the complete screen, impossibe switching between remote and local screens.

I found following thread before. It didn't help me out.
Remote x-server with ssh -X
http://askubuntu.com/questions/17590...ver-with-ssh-x

However I couldn't explain why sometimes I can start remote Gnome another occasion failure. If successful the background of the remote desktop disappears but the remote left tool-bar displayed on top of the local left tool-bar.
