Unhappy udevd just keeps creating more and more in system activity until there's no resources

The only way to stop it is with killall udevd. Then when you need a usb device udevd --daemond then kill it again, Can anyone shed any light on this?

I know this is not much help;
But I would start investigating the files in /etc/udev/rules.d.
