My liteon 1633s DVD burner will not reconize any CD media blank, burned or pre recorded.
No Problem with DVD's
it is in an older HP pavillian 7845 piii 866
I am running k/ubuntu in that I started with ubuntu and updated to kubuntu and then switched back to gnome
What command are you running? I'll suspect you are attempting to mount an audio CD, but since they lack a valid file system, the mount operation is unnecessary. In contrast, if you are dealing with a data CD, you would have to mount it. Lastly, if you put a blank CD into the drive, there would be nothing to be recognized. -- J.W.
What kernel are you running? If it's 2.4.x, you may need to manually add the "append hdc=ide-scsi" boot option, or perhaps to manually mopdprobe the ide-scsi module
