type su in kde's konsole and crash

right so i ve spent a few hours setting up my brand new slack on my brand new laptop got X, sound, dvd, cdr and others working correctly but when i start kde as user and then in kde's konsole (or rather call it a terminal) i type 'su' it crashes sending the signal 11 (???) and i have no idea what to do.

more when i start xterm by myself there appears to be no problem i can type su and work as root

any ideas?

kde 3.1.4
kernel 2.4.22

almost forgot to add: there is no problem in gnome (it seems to use xterm anyway)

Most likely a problem with konsole. Do your log files indicate anything else that might give a hint of what is happening?

unfortunately not. earlier when i typed su i user konsole i got info like "libGL: access not permitted" however after solving this one everything's ok. but what is most interesting that konsole works without problems for root

Could just be a bug. If you totally prefer using konsole over any other term, I'd check to see if there are any updates for it, could be newer versions to download and update it with.
