Thumbs down two video cards no video

Well heres the deal;
I have managed to setup XFree with two monitors and two videocards.

What happens though is when i try to start mplayer or other movie players on the second monitor no video is present, is there some parameter i need to give in order for me to see video on both screens?

nb. when i use xawtv it works well i move tv between monitors without losing video output.

any help will be greatly appreciated...
