TV-Out problems (flicky screen)
im using a ati radeon 9200se card. It came shiped with a s-video to rca cable. i plug the cable into the card and tv, like it should. i then turn on the tv and computer. like i read online, the card used the tv-out, which my normal monitor couldent display, as expected. but on the tv screen the image was messed up. even in the bios loader. the screen looked flicky, with less color. what should have been at the top of the screen was near the bottom, and copied several times, each copy at a closer location to the top of screen. there where several bars (horizontle) on the screen, jumping around (muc like seeing a crt monitor on tv, you can see those lines). on the linux command line (800x600x16 vesa framebuffer), what should be the screen bottom is about in the lower middle, say 80% from the top. and lines in the cli that should have been from last screen are in the screen middle. the same artifacts are also in the framebuffer that where in the bios.
tv-out seems to only work if its pluged in at boot time, if i start a normal x session (using the radeon driver that ships with xorg), the monitor properly works, but the tv gets scrambled (like all the pixels where shifted in memory, i dident expect the tv to work then, but if i select text, you can see on the tv color changes at the spots where those lines where, if i select more, you can see the color patchs overlap and get brighter.
anyone know how to get this working, i only need tv-out to whatch dvd's that are scrambled on our normal player, so ill only need a framebuffer or other mplayer output to output to the tv. i tried atitvout, and ati-gatos drivers, but they where unable to get tv-out working, atitvout wont even acknowledge tv-out existence unless i boot up with the cables pluged in, and it cant seem to unscramble the screen.
