Trying to migrate from OS X to Ubuntu: Addressbook, Mail, iTunes, iPhoto

Having a hard time migrating from mac mail, and addressbook. I can't seem to find out how to do this.

1)How can I migrate my addressbook to Evolution from Mac? I used Thunderbird as an intermediary in the past, but can't remember where I had to go and what I had to do to prep in OS X first.

2)How can I do the same thing with mac mail?

The iTunes and iPhoto I think I can figure out, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks

Joe

A couple of urls may help you:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=50451

... and...

http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Import_Vcf_Contacts

They key is to use .vcf (vCard format) for the exchange.

Evolution can import mbox formatted mail. To get Mac Mail into mbox format, go to:

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...60706201156481 and follow the instructions there.

solved

Thanks, I found what you posted and ended up trying it both ways.
1)Using a "to g.app" freeeware for mac to convert into csv file. Found out about it on gmail. Works ok, but there is a little scrambling of the data.
2)Tried running .vcf, but the format dropped the street addresses of my entries.
3)used your way of "save as" in mbox format and carried over about 20 mailboxes. tedious, but worked great.

Thank you for your response penguiniator...really appreciate the help

Joe
