Trying to apply custom cursor theme in Ubuntu 11.10

I've asked this question numerous times but no one seems to wish to help me. I want to customize my cursor (specifically this theme http://gnome-look.org/content/show.p...?content=50663)

I've extracted the .zip and put it into usr/share/icons. It comes up as an option in Gnome Tweak Tools but doesn't fully change.

Other forums I've read over said if it doesn't work to go into the terminal and type "sudo update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme"

I'm supposed to get a list of all the possible cursor themes. I see a lot of themes except the one theme I want.

Even when I select it in the Gnome Tweak Tool and type "compiz --replace" in the terminal like other forums have said to do it still won't work.

Can someone please help me?

How do you mean you put it in /usr/share/icons. Did you install it as a package, or did you simply unzip the package moved the files there?

Here is an short Howto install custom cursor themes: http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/0...cursor-themes/

Searching forums for answers to questions is one way to do it, but the search resources are severely limited. Doing general searches of the web accesses a much larger resource, and therefore is much more likely to produce the answer to a question. If the Howto I provided to you solves your problem, then please note that it took me less than 1 minute to find that solution.

I unzipped it and put the files there. This how-to seems to say I didn't have to unzip the file...I'll try not unzipping it too.

EDIT: Didn't work
