truecrypt for external HD suggestion?

1st, any feedback on the s/w? I have an external drive I wish to encrypt, laptop runs Ubunutu Dappy, dekstop has XP. Right now the drive is formatted ext3 and I can see it using ext explorer for windows but I wish to encrypt.

So, I see a debian pkg of truecrypt and just wondered both if anyone has feedback (good/bad) and / or if I could go even further and browse it in XP? Worse case I can do a samba share on the laptop, but wanted some feedback and / or suggestions.

Tnx.

I use truecrypt on USB sticks and it works well in both Windows and Linux.

Truecrypt allows you to create an encrypted file that can be mounted as a seperate drive, or encrypt the entire device.

I have only used the file method myself so not sure how well the entire device option works.
