trouble with "stable" windowmaker


when in winmaker there's no background image, and it seg faults everytime I right click the desktop, or try and move an open window. This is the output:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc: line 32: 1406 Segmentation fault twm
Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C
Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default
