Tree listing

Hey guys I am trying to get a nice and neatly formated listing of a directory. Something similare to the old DOS tree command with the lines and everything. ls -lR gets everything but it is hard to read. Does anyone know of a way to format it out.

Thanks in advamce

You didn't specify which distro you're running, so it may or may not be installed, but "tree" will do what you want (I think). Your distro may have a package you can install via apt-get, rpm, or whatever package manager it supports.

Or you can download and install tree from here:

Here's an example of it's output:

Have you looked at Midnight Commander? I dont have it on this box, so I'm relying on fuzzy mental images--It think it does some of what you seek.
