Trash Can Icon in KDE

I've been searching around everywhere for a fix for this but it seems that there are no easy fixes that I can find. Using Fedora 2, latest kernel, KDE 3.2. The trash icon on the desktop always shows full, even though there is nothing in it, except for the .directory file. Does anyone know a fix for this? This even occurs under the root user. Removing the .directory file just turns the icon to a folder icon instead. Maybe they will fix this with 3.3?

Not to say that this isn't a real bug, but... has anyone tried "removing" the Trash from being displayed on the desktop and then re-enabling it? This is what solved a similar problem for me, under GNOME.

Not being a KDE user, I am making at least one assumption: that there exists a desktop configuration option under KDE that will allow you to enable or disable certain "standard" desktop icons (like mounted drives, and the trash). Under GNOME, this is accomplished by right-clicking on a desktop icon, and selecting items from the context menu that appears. This being KDE, though, you might have to do it via the Control Center.

In any case, have you tried to do this, and if so, does it "reset" the trash icon to its default state (which in this case should be "empty")?

Just an idea.
